Yeah I remember taking a shit in the middle of the dinner table scene where they are just sitting there. After I was done and came back, they were still sitting there doing nothing.

I was very excited to see this and waited until it was on dvd. I loved Hereditary and thought it was brilliant in portraying demonology and the horrifying grip of supernatural on a family. However, I set my expectations high for this one, hoping if would embrace some sort of supernatural aspect to it, but it didn"t. The characters are rather dull and there is somewhat of an unconnected feeling throughout the film. No where is there any real horror, just a plethora of psychedelic nonsense. It aims at depicting disparaging glimpses of pagan Litha and comes off pretentious, the ritualistic, purification, blood sacrifice, rebirth, fertility, blah, blah. I tried my best to not compare the film with Ari Aster"s previous, but really the two films can"t be more dissimilar. I could see the appeal of Midsomer to strictly those very interested in all things pagan, but other than that I think you will be met with disappointment, especially if you are expecting horror.

After the rape scene, Christian was supposed to run away in the robe that he had entered in. Jack Reynor himself suggested that Christian run out completely nude to appear more vulnerable: thus he appears fully nude when trying to escape. Reynor was inspired by having recently watched The Last House on the Left (1972) like many films in the horror genre, female characters are disrobed, humiliated, and/or assaulted before their demise. He felt it was due time that male characters be made to suffer similar indignation.

“Hey bro wanna go to a weird festival in Sweden in the middle of nowhere?” Black guy: nope. I rewatched the video (you"re welcome) and TCD literally never says the word family. The reason the movie ends with Dani smiling (imo) is because she"s been depressed for months and this is the first time she feels embraced and understood since the death of her. wait for it. FAMILY. We know from early on in the movie that Christian was planning on breaking up with her before he finds out about what happened. When we meet him he"s already emotionally checked out, but he stays faithful to her because it"s the decent thing to do, because it would look bad if he followed through on his original plan. He doesn"t actually have a change of heart, though. When he"s comforting a grieving Dani, he looks like he"d rather not be there. He"s there for her physically, ambivalently not emotionally, spiritually, ardently, etc. If her family"s demise is the gaping wound in her soul, the lie of lingering as her boyfriend is a band-aid. What festers underneath is her disproportionate wrath when she finds out that he doesn"t actually care for her. Christian got what was coming, not for cheating on Dani, but for pretending to care and dragged his friends down with him. or, haha theme go whoosh.

He explains everything so well and in such a simple way that i kind of understand now how people get manipulated to that cult mindset! i never understood how people were so easily manipulated, this helped me see how much it takes to do this kind of mass manipulation and how they break each person, amazing.
